What Is Your Bottom Line?

by CDW on December 16, 2010

going out of businessI recently learned of a business that was going out of business. Sadly, that is not an uncommon occurrence these days, however, this was a business that should not have gone out.

This business started with a happy and loyal customer base. It was lost because the new owner focused more on making money than making customers happy. One by one, the customers who were once so loyal found themselves looking elsewhere for the same product.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think making money is a bad thing at all. The point is, give your customers a great experience and the money will follow. I saw a report just last night about how many businesses are not just getting through tough times, but growing through them by providing a great customer experience.

Think you can’t compete with the super stores?  Maybe you can’t compete on price, but what about customer service? What can you do to make your business a place where people like to visit? It could be something as simple as greeting your customers with a smile and offering a cup of coffee. If it is online, maybe it is giving your visitor the information they are looking for in an easy to understand way.

Would love to hear what you are doing to create great customer experiences.

Great article guys and so true. In the old days a “happy” customer might tell 7 people about the experience, and “unhappy” customer told 21 people. Today an unhappy customer shoots a video about the experience, posts it to YouTube and tells millions.
