Top Social Media Tool?

by blogmistress on January 11, 2011

Recently Social Media Examiner posted an article that began with the following questions:

If you heard about a marketing strategy that could substantially lower your marketing expenses and return 600% or more of your investment, would you be interested in learning more about it?

Hmmm, what kind of strategy could do that? The answer is:

Blogging

Yes, that’s right, blogging. Did you know, studies show that small businesses that blog get:

  • 55% more visitors
  • 97% more inbound links
  • 434% more indexed pages

With that in mind, what is holding you back? If you’re like me, the problem is time investment. However, looking at those numbers, how can I not take the time? How can you?

A blog is a great way to:

  • Communicate with your customers
  • Establish yourself as an expert
  • Enhance SEO
  • Drive people to your website

So, where do you start? Here are some tips for success.

  • Read other blogs. Think no one is writing about your industry? Check it out. You may be surprised.  Get ideas and inspiration. If there are no blogs about what you do, all the better for you. You can be first!
  • Don’t worry about writing long articles. Blog articles don’t have to be long to be good. In fact, often, brevity is better!
  • Stay true to your purpose. What is the purpose of your blog? Let your blog articles support that purpose.
  • Use good titles. Here is a great article by Copyblogger on writing great headlines.
  • Learn to write reasonably well. Again, Copyblogger is a great resource.
  • Run spellcheck (‘nough said)
  • BE CONSISTENT (and, yes, I am preaching to myself here as well)
  • BE COMMITTED

Spread the word! Tell us about your blog or your blog plans! We love to hear from you.
