How Are Your Stats?

by blogmistress on April 7, 2009

Does your website developer/host provide you with good analytics (statistics) about your website’s visitors? I don’t mean the mountains of raw data that most hosting services will provide you. I mean the kind of analytics that present the data in format that is easy to recognize and understand. Google Analytics is a good example of what I’m talking about.

We once had a potential client with whom we were working. We asked them if their current developer/host of three years had provided them with any statistics/analytics on their site. They said no, but they would contact the developer/host to see if the information was available. They next day their developer/host delivered over 50 pages of raw data, most of which even the developer/host could not explain.

My point is you need statistics about your website in order to know if it is effective. However, most of us are not statisticians, and don’t want to be, so these statistics need to be sifted through and presented in a format that is easy to understand. That’s what Google Analytics does. We provide all of our clients with access to Google Analytics for their sites.
